We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team! The Senior Accountant supports the Finance department and its various deliverables by performing accounting administration functions for Frederator.  This role will work in the Vancouver head office and report to the Wow Finance Team in Vancouver.   

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepares A/P postings and obtains approvals on all invoices and purchase orders
  • Prepares wire transfer payments, cheques, and ETFs to vendors for review
  • Prepares month end accruals or recurring items when invoices have not been received
  • Prepares monthly loan drawdowns for productions 
  • Reconciles, codes and posts corporate credit cards
  • Processes expense reports, ensuring that proper receipts and approvals have been attached
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly cost reports
  • Prepares a weekly cash flow projection and reconciles cash forecast from previous week
  • Assists the Assistant Controller in the month-end closing process, including but not limited to:
    • Preparation of monthly journal entries
    • Preparation of bank reconciliations 
    • Maintain the fixed asset sub ledger 
    • Preparation of bi-weekly payroll
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly management reporting package
  • Maintain participation schedules for Intellectual Property productions
  • Assists in the preparation of the quarterly consolidation workbook including lead sheets, supporting tabs, variance analysis, and quarter-end adjusting journal entries
  • Assists external auditors for quarterly reviews and year-end audit
  • Provides support to the Director of Finance on special projects as assigned, including accounting/taxation/budgeting
  • Communicates and maintains open dialogue with Frederator employees in New York and Los Angeles
  • Supports and integrates the values of Mainframe, that being a commitment to innovation, creativity, professionalism and inspiration
  • Interacts respectfully and professionally with colleagues, other staff members, partners and clients
  • Additional duties as requested

Qualifications and Skills

  • University or accredited post-secondary degree with a focus on accounting
  • Professional accounting designation or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years in an Accounting environment
  • Basic accounting principals
  • Accounting software experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills (i.e. pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to research and report on relevant issues and/or changes
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide decisive solutions
  • Develops new initiatives and workflows to improve processes
  • Encourages open communication between the team and other departments
  • Provides regular, constructive performance feedback to team
  • Experience using Intacct accounting software and reports is an asset
